dc.description.abstract Questions what changes have taken place in the Swaziland system of education since independence. An historical perspective of the Swaziland system of education is given. By means of this historical information, the changes which have taken place since independence can be established. The education-related ideals of Swaziland and the influence this has had on education policy are determined. Organisational structures, educational structures and supporting services are looked at in depth and the extent of success that can be seen in the development of these structures is indicated. A brief look is taken at the aspects which have an inhibiting effect on the system. The study examines whether the minimum prerequisites, as required by a system of education, have been met. The conclusion made is that the education authorities in Swaziland have, to a great extent, been able to allow development take place, despite some inhibiting factors. en
