Abstract:
We live in a society that is constituted by various discourses. This research voyage towards becoming aware of the discourse which constitutes relationships, marriage and Coupledom, involved a process of entering into conversations with ten young people. This process can be described as participatory action research, where the researcher and the participants are co- explorers in the research voyage. The choice of a postmodernistic social discourse as epistemology implies a shift from method-centerdness to a discursive practice. The postmodern feminist theology invited the young people to voice their experiences with Coupledom within their theological discourse. The deconstruction of the discourse Coupledom calls on the Church (and Christians) to be a loving community with compassion for everyone, especially those who are single.
