dc.description.abstract This study focuses on goal-setting in social work. Decision-making in setting objectives for social work as an assistance and intervention methodology has to be based on consultation between the social worker and individual client or community. In this process, the usefulness of theory which emanates from other disciplines may be vital to the social worker. Knowledge about communication and interaction, especially as it applies to small-group socialization, is vital to the success of a methodology which is based upon open-channel communication dynamics. A clearer understanding of the task of the social worker, as well as the language needed to conceptualize it, is important if meaningful discriminative perspicacity between various human sciences is to be achieved. en
