dc.description.abstract The C.S.E.R. De Lange report of 1981 ruled that the shortcomings in black teacher education should be highlighted. That led to this monograph. The introductory chapter is an attempt to point out the important role of media instruction in the training of prospective black teachers. Certain concepts are elucidated and an orientation takes place. In the next chapter an attempt is made to explain the concept of audiovisual media instruction. Chapter three is an attempt to give grounding to the pedagogic relevance of audiovisual teaching. The implementation of audiovisual media instruction at a number of black teacher training colleges in conjunction with the andragogic structures is explained, investigated and evaluated in chapter four. In the final chapter certain findings in the previous chapter are looked at and a modest attempt to make certain recommendations is made. en
