dc.description.abstract The aim of the study has been to research the amount of work satisfaction experienced by the staff of Valkenberg Hospital. Three groups of 20 each were randomly selected from the nursing staff, professional staff and administrative staff. The research is post facto research and the data has been analized by the phenomenological descriptive method. The results show low work satisfaction at the hospital. The main reasons for this is poor communication, authoritative management, lack of understanding of administrative functioning of the hospital, poor physical working conditions and especially a lack of personnel acknowledgement. They experienced tension which manifested in physical and psychological symptoms. Signs of the burnout syndrome were present. In conclusion, recommendations to remedy this situation have been made. en
