dc.description.abstract Attention has been focused on various codes of conduct, all of which have as their common aim the equal treatment for all workers in South Africa. The success and future of employment codes in South Africa is largely dependent on the willingness and commitment of management to change and meet the new labour dispensation challenges, the communication process of implementation, and the extent of monitoring management's performance. There is a need to create within the company a social awareness among the various race groups. A prerequisite for the success of the labour codes id the monitoring of the performance of the codes. This study discusses the malpractices that existed within the South African labour relations field and which gave rise to the implementation of the various codes of employment. A critical analysis is made of the current state of affairs. en
