dc.description.abstract This study is devoted to an investigation of the social interactional behaviour styles, with specific reference to the type and effect of aggressive behaviour amongst a sample of English speaking, learning disabled standard six pupils (n=73). Measures used were the picture situation test (to determine the type and effect of the learning disabled pupil's aggression); the Norwicki-Strickland locus of control scale; and behaviour checklists (completed by the learning disabled pupils and the teachers to get an idea of how the learning disabled pupils behaviour in terms of aggression is viewed by the pupil as well as by the teacher). Based on the findings of the study which showed that learning disabled pupils tend to show indirect aggression which essentially has a non-constructive effect on social interaction, it was concluded that assistance to the learning disabled pupil with regard to social skills, and more specifically the management of aggressive behaviour, is imperative. To ensure that the most effective assistance is given, different hierarchical system levels were involved. en
