dc.description.abstract In this thesis the author describes the design of the VHP and UHF receiver front-ends which will be used on the Sunsat microsatellite. Typical front-end requirements are determined. The required specifications are drawn up for the VHP and UHF front-ends, by investigating the whole communication system on the satellite and the satellite RF environment, specifically when the transmitters and receivers must work simultaneously. The VHP and UHF front-ends are designed from these specifications with particular changes made to the UHF front-end. A complete evaluation is conducted, doing a set of measurements to determine the front-end performance. The thesis is concluded by suggesting improvements and investigating possible new research directions. en
