dc.description.abstract Traditional strategic management no longer applies to the present rapidly changing environment - a new strategic managerial approach is required. Old managerial practices should be scrapped because the experience informing them was gathered in a different era. The aim of this study was to acquire insight into the complexity and dynamics of strategic change in a turbulent context and how to manage such change - theoretically and practically. Understanding of the dynamics of environmental change is needed when managing strategic change. Privatisation and deregulation will probably strongly influence organisations in the public sector and they therefore formed the frame of reference of this research. The conclusion reached was that management of strategic change requires a future vision that includes the unknown in a dynamic environment. Management should realise that a settled organisational culture often resists any form of change. A holistic managerial approach is consequently essential for handling corporate and strategic change in a dynamic future milieu. en
