dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study is to determine whether aspects of instruction can be classified as a facet determining or influencing educational standards. The researcher aims at describing the importance of aspects of instruction as determinant of educational standards by means of: a literature study, which confirms the importance of aspects of instruction; as will as an empirical study, based on a questionnaire which was submitted to respondents closely involved with schooling aspects. The literature study describes aspects of instruction with reference to specific aspects like the teacher's orientation to his task, to people and his personal assets in service of education for effective teaching. Validity and reliability of the empirical components of the investigation were ascertained by means of Factor Analyses and Item Analysis. The identified variables (i.e. the teacher's commitment to the profession; his work ethics; the teacher as an example to pupils; his teaching methods; quality of relationship between the teacher and his/her pupils; his stance and the number of pupils in his classroom) constituted the multidimensional role used to investigate this specific facet. Multi variate Analyses (MANOVA and HOTELLING T�) as well as Single variate Analyses (ANOVA, STUDENT t-test, Scheff� test) were used in the statistical analysis of the data. Hypotheses on personal particulars (i.e. gender; language; educational qualification; age; permanent place of residence; religion; marital status; children and income) were set. en
