dc.description.abstract The development of technology in the field of communication has brought video into prominance as a medium to entertain and inform. It is, therefore imperative that video should form part of instructional media available to school principals. For use as an instructional medium the video is very convenient for the school principal, because of its excellent control or manipulative characteristics, which enables both the principal and head of department to exercise control over the medium. Video possesses some unique symbolic characteristics which make it a rich and powerful medium for instruction, with potential uses in many forms of instruction. Video as medium can be successfully integrated into all the various phases of instruction. A thorough preview is necessary before a programme is used to ensure that the goal of the instruction will be met by using the programme. It is recommended that instructional programme be made available to principals for use in instruction of management to ensure that the medium is utilized to its full potential. Production laboratories at our schools are also a recommendation that need to be attended to. Video is a sophisticated medium and much more research is necessary to use video for instruction so that the full potential of the medium can be utilized for use by the school principal. en
