dc.description.abstract This study focuses on the author's points of view concerning education as far as its impact on culture is concerned. The selected works of art that deal with the educational factors to show how the theme of education is represented, are those of R.R.R. Dhlomo, I.S. Kubheka, M. Mkhize, D.B.Z. Ntuli, Nyembezi S. and Vilakazi B.W. This study is based on written literature represented by different genres. The focus is mainly on the representation of the educational factors since many authors have dealt with this, It os noticed that Zulu authors express different points of view concerning education by providing realistic characters that represent the real situation. Researchers such as Canonici and Kunene have propounded that the work of literature is supposed to mirror the society from which it springs and to give the reader a better ubderstanding of human behaviour. Therefore a work of art also reflects the community's culture, life, history and general truths. Kunene further speaks about the realistic fiction, where the physical and cultural environment is usually real, while the characters who live their lives in that environment are fictionalised. This research is based on this idea, with the focus on literature as a reflection of reality. The main aim here is to show the representation of reality in literature rather than concentrating on the structure. en
