dc.description.abstract Attempts to address the question of film as part of literature teaching at the senior secondary level. The issue is addressed from the point of view of film as illustration of a literary text, film as a means of comparative interpretation of a text, and film as a separate text, to be interpreted by pupils as such. Attention is given to the teaching of literature, the development of the adolescent reader in terms of the interpretation of imaginative/creative material and reception-theoretical issues and perspectives. The teaching of film, including the concept film, the aims in teaching film and a proposed method of teaching film are also studied. There is also a discussion of the use of a few films and important points to keep in mind in the teaching of film within the framework of the teaching of literature. en
