dc.description.abstract Training as a part of non-formal teaching can fill great needs in the supply of trained manpower. During the last decade various organisation have realised the importance of training and have supplied their employees with training within their organisations. As a result of the latter, the importance of planning for training was recognised. As a result of this, a need arose for a model which was not merely skill-orientated but also employee-orientated. The aim of this study is to set a framework for planning which will comply to the uniqueness of training. After a thorough study of the relevant literature, the various components of the mini-training system, were described, followed by the empirical research undertaken at the Boskop Training Centre. Interviews were conducted with as many members of the staff of the Boskop Training Centre as possible. During this phase various document analysis procedure were applied to those official documents access had been gained to. Thus, the proposed framework for planning was compared to the demands of practice as found at Boskop. The result was that the proposed framework could be used as a base for the planning of training. en
