dc.description.abstract The theoretical part of the study addresses conflict as a phenomenon. The field of interpersonal conflict is defined and a link is established between conflict handling/resolution and the role of communication. An approach to problem resolution is identified. Verbal and non-verbal communication are discussed. Communication approaches to conflict resolution are discussed, leading to the postulation of a technique for operationalisation for the course participant in the form of Transactional Analysis. Training strategies are compiled within a holistic framework approach. Existing courses and programmes are evaluated. A course programme has been developed and presented, running for two consecutive days and involving 12 participants. Regarding the transfer of learning and skills, the course succeeds in terms of its stated objective. The course is evaluated and suggestions for improvement are made. en
