dc.description.abstract The basic question that underpins this study is: what is the character of an integrally Christian view of culture in contrast to a partial-Christian view, and in what way did Abraham Kuyper succeed in developing an integrally Christian approach? The basic point of departure of this study is that a Christian view of culture is based on a biblical view of creation. From this biblical view of creation certain basic characteristics of a view of culture can be deduced concerning God's authority and man's calling. This leads to the deduction that culture as a God-given calling must have an integrally Christian character. This means that Christ's authority must be recognised as a substantial and interwoven part of culture. In order to assure this, certain criteria must be met. Criteria for in integrally Christian view of culture have been formulated. In the light of these criteria, Kuyper's view of culture has been evaluated. en
