dc.description.abstract The objectives of this study were: to investigate the construct validity of the picture motivation tests (PMT) by comparing the differences between contrast-groups (age and academic achievement), by means of convergent and discriminant validation and factor analyses; and to determine the criterion-related validity of the PMT by investigating predictive and concurrent validity. The results indicate that the PMT differentiates between contrast groups (age and academic achievement). They were also positive for discriminant validity and factorial validity, but negative for convergent validity. They were positive for predictive validity, but negative for concurrent validity. The conclusion was that PMT assesses a psychological construct related to academic success. The exact nature of this concept could not be established. The use of PMT is recommended in academic selection environment. The inclusion of these tests could be beneficial in a multiple correlation context. en
