dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine whether the migrant pupil's social adaptation, self-concept and personality vary from those of the non-migrant pupil. The social development of the child from birth to adolescence, and the influence of parents, family, peer groups, society and church were considered. From the data gained it appeared that the migrant pupil does experience problems with his social adaptation in a new school. The investigation also showed that the self-concept and the personality of the migrant pupil do differ in certain respects from those of the non-migrant pupil. The differences are mainly of a social kind. The study offered several directives to help the migrant pupil with his adaptation. en
